Thomas M. Murphy, 76, of Snug Harbor, Toms River, NJ passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Passaic, NJ, he lived in Clifton, NJ before moving to Toms River in 1961. Mr. Murphy was the owner of SBA Land Surveyors in Toms River.
He served in the US Army for three years. Tom was a parishioner of St. Justin RC Church, Toms River and was a member of the church’s choir. He was also a member of the Toms River Yacht Club, NJSPLS, was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and volunteered for the Boys Scouts. Tom was the founder of the Barnegat Bay Rowing Association and the Mid Atlantic Chapter of URISA. He was predeceased by his brothers John Henry and Michael G. Murphy in 2014.
Tom is survived by his wife of 52 years Judith (nee Robertson) 4 sons Kevin Murphy and his wife Kylie of Toms River, Thomas Murphy and his wife Kellyanne of Toms River, Sean Murphy of Oakland, CA and Keith Murphy of Toms River, 5 grandchildren Kayla, Shannon, Kieran, T.J. and Kollin.
