Thomas M. Malone, 97, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully, on October 17th, 2018. Born in Bethlehem he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Estella (Laury) Malone. He was the husband of Lucy M. (Vallone) Malone with whom he shared over 70 years of loving marriage.

Tom honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He participated in combat at Guadalcanal, New Guinea, Cape Gloucester, New Britain and Tallasea. His awards included the Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation with Star Clasp, the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal with four bronze stars, World War II victory medal, a medal from the Republic of China and a medal from the Solomon Island government.

He was a member of the first Marine Division Assn., the Bethlehem detachment of the Marine Corps League, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. Tom enjoyed being a Marine, and enjoyed going to his Marine Division reunions. He was also a boxer in the Marine Corps. He opened a boxing gym in South Bethlehem, and was a judge at boxing matches at Lehigh University. Tom worked as a registered professional engineer, and was former President of Eckert & Malone, Inc., Civil Engineers & Land Surveyors of Sellersville. He was also a city engineer and director of public works for the City of Bethlehem, retiring in 1983.

He was a former member of the Bethlehem Water Authority, having served for 16 years, 6 of those as chairman. He was a former member of the Civil Service Board for Engineers and Electricians, and served as a member of the officers and employees pension board. He was also a life member of the Northend Wanderers Athletic Assn., and was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church. Tom enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family and friends.

SURVIVORS: In addition to his loving wife Lucy; daughter Lisa A. Malone of Bethlehem; sister Dorothy Schrenko of Bethlehem. He was predeceased by his brother John Malone and sister Alice Hunt.
