Thomas Leroy Leggett, Jr., passed away on May 7, 2019 in Flagstaff, Arizona surrounded by family. Thomas was born on September 26, 1921 in Drew Mississippi to Thomas Leroy Leggett, Sr. and Ethel Laura Finley.
He was raised in the Mississippi Delta where his family farmed cotton. After graduating from high school, he went into the Civilian Conservation Corps where he worked as a Park Guide at Vicksburg National Cemetery. In 1942 he joined and served as a Corporal in the Army Air Corps, which soon became the Unites States Air Force. He trained as an airplane mechanic and specialized in gunnery.
He helped build gunnery schools and train airplane crew members. In November 1945 he was honorably discharged. After WWII he began a career as a driver for Santa Fe Trailways, which later became Continental Trailways, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He was a loyal and dedicated driver for over 45 years, driving in New Mexico, California, Arizona and Utah. He married Luella Jean Thompson in 1963 and they lived in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1965, they moved to Flagstaff where they raised their family. Thomas was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various capacities.
Thomas was a beloved son, husband, father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents and 9 siblings. He is survived by his wife Jean, his sister, Sue Raines of Memphis, TN, his two sons, Douglas Todd Leggett (Rande) of Unalaska, AK, and Bradley Thomas Leggett (Julie), of Jerome, ID and his two daughters, Carolyn Sue Frey (Don) of Lake Kiowa, TX and Alexa Ann Davis (Daren) of Highland, UT, his 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
