Thomas Larry McKoon, age 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at his home in Newnan. He was born on February 28, 1948 in Newnan, GA to the late Guy Waymon McKoon and Nellie Grace Duke. Tom, as he was known by friends and family, served in the United States Coast Guard for four years. After he retired he became commander of the Coast Guard auxiliary. He was a graduate of East high school class of 1966. Tom was a member of the American Legion Post 400 and a member of the NRA. Tom retired from both Georgia Tech and Georgia Power. He will be truly missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife, Valarie Morin McKoon; brother, Wesley McKoon and his wife Belvie; nephew, Brian McKoon and niece Melissa Proctor.
