Thomas L. McCormick

January 5, 1925 – March 13, 2012

McCormick, Thomas Lawrence, Bay City, MITom passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 13 at Brian’s House Hospice. He was born January 5, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Thomas E. and Marie (Gunther) McCormick. Tom served in the Army Air Corps during World War II on the island of Guam. Following the war, Tom relocated to Kansas City, Missouri where he lived for 31 years forming many important friendships. Upon retirement from Arkansas Best Freight Lines, Tom moved to Bay City in 1981. Tom was a devoted member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church since 1990, during which time he has served as a Eucharistic minister, usher and greeter. He was proud to be called “The Ambassador of Hospitality” at St. Alban’s. Tom didn’t limit his caring and hospitality to his church, but reached out to a very wide circle of friends for whom he has been a confidant and mentor.

Tom is survived by nieces and nephews; Charlotte and Edward Stanulis of Algonac, MI; Barbara and Grant Crane of Scottsdale, AZ; Thomas J. and Carol Gawrych of Bay City; Kevin (Richard) Gawrych of Bay City; Larry Reif of Scottsdale, AZ; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother, Marie Reif, his step-father, William Reif, his sister, Charlotte Gawrych Dettmer, his nephew, Mark Gawrych and his close friend, Joe Nauser.

At Tom’s request, cremation has taken place.
