Thomas John (T.J.) Hemmings, age 73, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. The service celebrating T.J.’s life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020. T.J. was born July 19, 1947 in Carroll County, GA to the late Jesse Willis Hemmings and Vera Lester Hemmings. He fought in the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army and earned the rank of Sergeant and the National Defense Service Medal. Subsequently, he worked as a lab technician for more than 30 years at Nestle Purina in Fairburn, GA. Along with his parents, T.J. is preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Kee Hemmings; sisters, Frances Wright and Noveline Abner. He is survived by his wife Debra Hemmings; children, Elliot Hemmings and his wife Laura, Jimmy Hemmings and his wife Jackie, Paul Turley and his wife Julie, Matt Turley and his wife Jessica, and Jesse Turley and his wife Smitha; sister, Mavis Helton and her husband Steve, and his brother David Hemmings and his wife Irene. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and sweet puppy, Muffy.
