Thomas J. Smith, 58, of Three Oaks, Michigan died at his home Saturday morning, January 12, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born December 5, 1954 in South Bend, Indiana, one of Joseph and Dolores (Lund) Smith’s ten children. Tom grew up in Three Oaks and graduated from River Valley High School in 1973. He married Judith Kirk on August 1, 1981 in Bridgman, Michigan.
They lived in Three Oaks where they raised their two children. Tom spent 30 years as a truck driver but enjoyed the outdoors and being with his family in his free time. You could find him farming, camping, or boating. He was an avid sports fan ranging from NASCAR to football.
Tom was a member of the Sons of the Legion, Weechik Post 518, New Troy, Michigan.Survivors include his wife, Judi Smith; children, Amanda (Jay) Snider of Lafayette, Indiana and Clayton Smith of Three Oaks; his mother Dolores Smith of Three Oaks; siblings, Dolores Ann (Rex Funnell) Browndorf, of Twin Lake, Michigan, Jerry (Katrina) Smith of Buchanan, Michigan, Kathleen (Rich) Roose of Three Oaks, Mike Smith of Three Oaks, Theresa (Mark) Leazenby of Buchanan, Phil Smith of Three Oaks, Monica (Scott) Schmidt of Niles, and Mary Jane (Ray) Lorance of Niles, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Andrew in 1988 and by his father Joseph in 1996.
