Thomas J. Nolan, 76, of Bethlehem Township, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2018. His loving wife of 47 years, Diane Nolan, was by his side.
Born in Scranton, PA, Thomas was the son of the late Eugene Nolan and Ann (Mayer) Nolan. He was a graduate of the University of Scranton. Tom was an electrical engineer for Bethlehem Steel Corp. for over 38 years, and then was a project manager in recent years for Lehigh Heavy Forge. In addition, Tom was a substitute teacher for four years at Freedom High School. Tom served as a Commissioner for Bethlehem Township for the past 21 years, making him the longest serving member of the board to date. Tom’s voice and opinions will be greatly missed by many he served with. Besides being a Commissioner, he was a member of the township Planning Commission for 26 years, the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission, a former township representative to the Bethlehem Area Public Library, a former Two Rivers Council of Governments and the Northampton County Gaming Authority. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Bethlehem.
Survivors: Tom is survived by his wife, Diane; Daughters, Bethany Nolan of Philadelphia, and Erin Nolan and her husband Ruston Mitchell of Albuquerque, NM; Brother, Eugene Ambrose Nolan S.J. of Scranton; Sisters, Mary Ellen Rossi of Scranton, Anne Marie Roberts of Pittsburgh, and Eileen Grizzanti of Jacksonville, FL; Grandson, Miles Thomas of Albuquerque, NM.
