Thomas Henry Smith, 91, was born September 2, 1922 in Wichita, Kansas and passed from this life on Thursday, June 19, 2014 in Dallas, Texas.

After graduating high school, Thomas joined the US Air Force where he proudly served as a Corporal in the 15th Army Air Force 451st Bombardment Group in Italy during World War II. Following his stint in the military, he worked as a manufacturing engineer and business manager for Convair, Atlantic Research, Selma Manufacturing and Toledo Tools. In 1977, he started his own pipe wrench manufacturing company, Mahan Mfg.

Thomas married Frances Burke on August 25, 1951 and they raised seven children together. He and Frances retired to Fairhope, Alabama in 1989, eventually moving to Dallas to be closer to his children. He loved playing tennis and traveling the world. His wife, Frances, preceded him in death in 2012.

Thomas is survived by his seven children Anne Marie Feldman, Barbara Jean Dodds & husband Ron, Frances Martin, Mary Lou Fondren & husband Ralph, Thomas Henry Smith, Jr. & wife Jill, James Edmund Smith & wife Juli, and Joanne Smith Nelson & husband John; as well as 20 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Jo Smith, Anna Smith, Peggy Hunt & husband Dick; and his brother Francis Smith.
