Thomas Benton George, III (Tommy / Tom) was born December 30, 1955 in Mobile. He was the first child of Tom and Jackie Watts George.
He grew up in Roebuck area of Birmingham and graduated from Banks High School in 1975, then attended Jefferson State Jr. College. He worked in several retail, manufacturing and food service jobs throughout his working life. He was employed by Earnest McCarty Ford for the past year and greatly enjoyed his friends there.
He was known as Tommy in his younger years, but became known as Tom when he began working. He was Uncle Tom to his nephew and niece (Kyle and Katelyn George). His brother (David) referred to him as T-3 for most of his life.
Tom was predeceased by his father (Thomas B. George, Jr.) and leaves behind his mother (Jackie Watts George) and his brother and sister-in-law (David and Allyson George) all of Bessemer. He also leaves behind a nephew and his wife (Kyle and Lynne George) of Troy, AL; and a niece and her fiancé (Katelyn George and Mitchell Bruhn) of Homewood, AL. He also leaves behind an uncle, two aunts and numerous cousins who are all part of the Watts family in Meridian, MS.
The family is grateful to family and friends who loved and accepted Tom during his life. They are especially grateful to those at South Roebuck Baptist Church, Canaan Baptist Church, Browdy’s Deli, the Railroad Café and Earnest McCarty Ford; all of whom treated Tom like family.
