Thomas Foster Lindley, 94, a long-time resident of Storrs, CT peacefully passed away with friends by his side on January 22, 2017. Born in Seminole, Texas March 3, 1922, Foster was the oldest child of Thomas Foster Lindley, Sr. and Irene Franklin Lindley.

He graduated from Oklahoma City University in 1939 and left for Boston University in the spring on 1940. In 1942 he married his beloved Judy and spent the next 54 years together in Storrs. Foster earned his PhD in philosophy in 1951 and joined the University of Connecticut in that year. He was a member of the department of philosophy for many years and later Associate Dean of Arts and Science. Foster retired in 1989 to enjoy sailing and traveling with his wife. After her early death he often went to the opera and the Metropolitan Art Museum to see the Impressionists. 

Foster will be well remembered for his sage advice, his undaunted loyalty, and sly sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Betsy (Don) Cramer, his two grandchildren, Matt (Alex) Cramer and Kristen (Michael) Cramer, his youngest brother Bill (Gail) Lindley, and three great-granddaughters, Carmen, Vivian, and ZeZe.
