Thomas Elliott Fitzwater, age 80, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015 at home. He was born on January 1, 1935 in Indianapolis, IN to Arthur G. and Helen W. (Lee) Fitzwater and was the older of two sons. He graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School of Indianapolis, and soon after married the love of his life for nearly 60 years, Cynthia Sue Morgan on October 1, 1955. He was a retired railroad engineer. Tom & Cindy lived in Indianapolis before relocating to Sharpsburg, GA where they were active members of Heatherwood Baptist Church.
Tom had a passion for mechanics & machinery. He owned a motorcycle shop for several years in Indianapolis, and loved working on cars, trucks, motorcycles and even airplanes! He was a games enthusiast, and loved playing cards with his wife, children & grandchildren. He loved guns, watching hummingbirds, his dogs, dancing, swimming, the U.S. and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Among his greatest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren with whom he cherished spending time. He was a loving and dedicated father & grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; seven children: Shawn Sims (David), Kelley Kidd (Thomas), Thomas Fitzwater Jr. (Patricia), Erin Jones (Joel), Tracy Rettberg (Matthew), Darren Fitzwater (Angela) and Shannon Stephens; over 30 grandchildren & great-grandchildren; brother James Fitzwater (Beverly).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Helen Fitzwater.
