Thomas “Dan” Gordon, 82, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away on May 1, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones.  Born April 13, 1942, he was raised in Colquitt, Georgia by the late Harvey and Lorraine Gordon.  He was preceded in death by his younger sister, Lonita McCann.

Dan was a man of remarkable honor who wholeheartedly devoted himself to serving the Lord, caring for his family, and serving his country.  He is now at peace serving his Lord Jesus.

Dan met Helen, the love of his life for 63 years, in high school.  They married soon after graduation and shortly before he joined the US Army and was deployed to Vietnam.  Retiring as a Major, he proudly served his country for twenty years.

In those twenty years, Dan and Helen were stationed around the world and raised their children, Candace and Chris.  Dan loved his family with every fiber of his being and he loved to share stories.  He had a natural gift for creating instant personal connections with people and never met a stranger, passing along this gift to his daughter.

Dan was also an avid fisherman.  His passion was passed on to his son and his daughter as well as their families.  He could spend countless hours on the water or by the side of a bank casting his line.

He is survived by his loving wife, Helen, his daughter Candace and her husband Judge; and his son Chris and his wife Stephanie.  He also has 4 grandchildren, Jordan and her husband, Scott, Riley, Christopher, Aiden; and one great-grandchild, Beau.
