Thomas Gerald Bates, age 78 of Birmingham, AL passed away on December 9, 2012. He was a member of Edwards Lake Church of Christ. He was a Radio and TV Personality in Chattanooga, TN. He retired from Stanback Company as Vice President. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Walker Bates; children, Brian Bates, Kim Bates Medlen, Katrina Bates Phillips (Phil), and Brad Bates; brother, Mabra Bates “Son”; grandchildren, Matthew Craig Medlen, Laura Elizabeth Phillips, and Amanda Grace Phillips. The family would like to give a special thanks to Michael J. Rowland, MD and his nurse, Rosetta.
