Shea, Thomas A. Jr., age 78, a 48 year Ridgewood resident, recently of Mahwah, passed away January 5, 2018. Beloved husband of Carol (Jaskow). Adoring father of Jennifer McSherry and husband Timothy of Ridgewood and Christopher Shea of Mahwah and Southold, NY. Adoring grandfather of Quinn and Maeve. Devoted cousin of Jeanne and Bill Placier, Nan Shea and John Ehnhuus; Edward Shea and Kathy; Colleen Costigliola; Denise and Michael Glynn; Maureen and Timothy Motley.

He served two tours in the Navy as a navigator and achieved the rank of Lieutenant. He was involved in the Cuban missile crisis as well as operations in Vietnam. He spent 42 years working for IBM as a sales and marketing manager starting on Wall Street and growing into a position where he supported multi-national firms.

He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Ridgewood for 48 years, Tom worked in both the Religious Education Program and Career-Resources Ministry. Tom was a Charter Member of the Sunset Rotary Club of Central Bergen, where he was serving his tenth term as President. Tom was a member of the American Legion where he served as Financial Officer; he was also a member of the Ridgewood Knights of Columbus, and the Ridgewood Hobbyists. Tom graduated Brooklyn Preparatory School, then earned his BS from Fairfield University.

Tom had the “gift of gab” and he was known for his story telling, community outreach to the homeless, military/veterans and education for inner city children. He touched many lives and will be dearly missed by family, friends and community.
