NEW HARTFORD –MARTOCCHIO – Theresa “Terry” E. (Oswell) Martocchio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph G. Martocchio for 53 years. Born July 8, 1937 in Torrington; the daughter of the late Stephen and Theresa (Kramer) Oswell. Terry with her husband Joe, owned and operated Joe’s Market in the center of New Hartford. She also worked at Hurley Manufacturing and after retiring from there, she continued to work for several different retail outlets. She was a member of the Girl Scouts of America Council in Torrington as well as a Girl Scouts Leader. She was also a member of the Pinewoods Health and Racquet Club of Torrington. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church now Our Lady of Hope Parish in New Hartford and was actively involved with her children in the folk chorus for Saturday night masses. Terry was an avid tennis player, swimmer and gardener. She loved the outdoors and bird watching. She was also a talented oil painter and piano player. Terry most of all loved spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Hospice Department for their kindness and care. She leaves a son, Joseph M. Martocchio and wife Lori of New Hartford; two daughters, Ellen M. Dileo of New Hartford and Gloria J. Case and husband Christopher of Colebrook; a brother, Thomas Oswell of Pine Meadow; a sister, Joan Tourville of NV; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Stephen Oswell. Friends may call on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Montano-Shea Funreal Home, 5 Steele Road, New Hartford from 9:30 – 10:30 AM.
