Theresa (Terry) Colleen Clay, 62, Galesburg, died at 4:25 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center. Terry Clay was strong, dedicated, and loyal. Her commitments throughout life were her daughter, nursing, family and friends.
Terry was born February 6, 1953, in Galesburg, the daughter of John N. and Joyce C. (Durbin) Clay. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1971 and also received her RN degree from Carl Sandburg College in 1974. She completed her Bachelor’s of Science degree from University of Illinois, College of Nursing and Master’s of Science, Health Services Administration degree from University of St. Francis, Joliet. Terry began her nursing career at Americana Nursing Home. From there, she went to Galesburg Convalescent Center. The past 38 years of her nursing career was spent in multiple positions at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
Terry was married to Jerry Saline from February 1978 to February 1979. They have a beautiful daughter, Amanda Joy Clay-Copes (Cdr. J.A. Copes, USN, ret.). Terry was also “Biscuit Lady” to Grandpuppy Cupid. Also surviving are her siblings, Judy (Alan) Rhoades, John M. Clay, Daniel Clay, Mary (Don) Smith, Joe (Donna) Clay, Jean Riley, Melinda (Cedric) Williams and several dearly loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Christine (Bob) Hennenfent.
