Theodore (Ted) Bruce Snoek, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. Ted Snoek was born in Beaumont, Texas, on June 15, 1920, the son of William Karel Snoek and Florabell Snoek. The Snoek family was large, and altogether, Ted had four brothers and four sisters. He lived most of his long life in Port Arthur, Texas, then moved to Boerne five years ago to be nearer his children and grandchildren. As a teenager, he helped support his family by embarking on a career at sea, just as his father had before him. Over his long career, Ted Snoek became a master mariner and rose to the rank of captain; during WWII, he served as a merchant marine. In retirement, Captain Snoek also served for many years as president of his local Seaman’s Center. He was a devout man of faith, active in the church his whole life; in 2007, at the age of 87, he completed the Walk to Emmaus. Ted Snoek touched more lives than can be counted, but within his immediate family, he is survived by two of his brothers, Robert Joseph Snoek and Charles George Snoek; his beloved wife of 71 years, Effie Snoek; his children, Cheryl Sandoval and her husband Ramon Sandoval, and Jim Snoek and his wife Julie Snoek; his grandchildren, Ramon Sandoval III, Katherine Sandoval and her partner Seth Soule, and Joseph Sandoval and his wife Erin Rush Sandoval, Samuel Snoek-Brown and his wife Jennifer Snoek-Brown, Sara Snoek Postalwait and her husband Steven Postalwait, and Jonathan Snoek; and his great-grandchildren, Tristan Sandoval, Eli Soule, Aidan Snoek, Zoey Schmidt, Jolie Postalwait, Laney Postalwait, and Wyatt Sandoval.
