Thelma May Sagendorf Blackburn, 79

West Sand Lake Thelma May Sagendorf Blackburn, 79, of Old South Road, died Thursday at Albany Memorial Hospital Albany, after a long illness.

Born at Snyders Lake, NY she was daughter of the late Earl Allen and Edna Ferguson Sagendorf and wife of the late Frederick H. Blackburn Sr. She had resided in West Sand Lake for 40 years and was educated at Averill Park High School and Brady Infant Care Institute.

Mrs. Blackburn was executive administrator for her husband in Fred Blackburn Builder for many years. Prior to that she worked prior to World War 2 as a private duty nurse and during the war at Sterling Winthrop.

Survivors include her beloved children Charlene E. Ryan of Delanson, Sharon M. Raymond of West Sand Lake and Susan J. Sheffer and husband Robert of West Sand Lake; Frederick H. Blackburn Jr. and wife Caroline Caputo Blackburn of West Sand Lake a step daughter Priscilla A. Dodson and husband Richard of Greenville, SC; she was beloved grandmother and caregiver of Joanne Ryan Walsh, Doug and Jennifer Ryan, Scott and Melissa Raymond and Madeline Blackburn; three sisters Gertrude Keville of Latham, Gladys Johnson of Ballston Spa and Amy Boers of Schenectady and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Kenneth E. Sagendorf.
