Thelma Hodges Martin, 96, of 12 Bondurant St., Martinsville, VA died Thursday, June 9, 2011 in Blue Ridge Rehab Center. Born May 23, 1915 in Spencer, VA, Mrs. Martin was a daughter of the late John Banner Hodges and Nettie Susan Joyce Hodges. She was the wife of the late Robert Larry Martin, Sr. and was predeceased by a sister, Virginia H. Haynes and by two brothers, Curtis Hodges and Clarence Hodges. Mrs. Martin was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School. Surviving are two daughters, Shelby M. Eanes of Martinsville and Carolyn M. Wilson of Axton; a son, Robert Larry Martin, Jr. of Martinsville; nine grandchildren, Bonnie Punturi, Vickie Harris, Kevin Wilson, Karen Wilson, Donna Dean, Lee Eanes, Nancy Barnes, Keith Martin and Kathy Horton; eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
