Thelma Doris (Jackson) Lesniak, 96, passed from this life on Thursday, May 31, at Greenwood Village South in Greenwood, Indiana.   Thelma was born March 23, 1922 in Myrtle Creek, Oregon.  She was the fourth of six children born to Oscar and May Jackson.  Thelma attended a one-room schoolhouse in Myrtle Creek before her family moved to Michigan and then to Indiana, where Thelma graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1941.

While in Rensselaer, Thelma worked for Hadley Hatchery doing many jobs, from bookkeeper to unloading chicks from the incubators.  And, it was there, in Jasper County, Indiana, that Thelma met the love of her life, Bernard L. (Bernie) Lesniak, in February 1948, and they were married six months later on August 29.   Bernie has been Thelma’s loving partner for these last 70 years and was at her side as she took her final breath on Earth.

Bernie and Thelma had an extraordinary marriage and immensely enjoyed their time together, including sharing several hobbies such as fishing, golfing, bowling and playing cards.

Thelma was one of the kindest human beings God has ever placed on Earth.
