Terrence Michael Dougherty, 63, passed into God’s hands on May 22, 2011 after a brief illness. Affectionately known as Terry by his family and friends, he was born in Manhattan, NY on July 23, 1947. He leaves Patty, his wife of 46 years, and his son Michael.
He also leaves his brother and sister-in-law Peter and Judy Haybeck of Norwalk, numerous nieces and nephews, his many, many friends and his little dog Lexi. He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Mary Dougherty.
Prior to his retirement he was a highly decorated police officer with the City of Norwalk. At the age of 20 he was the first Norwalk Police Cadet when the program was offered, later becoming a regular patrolman.
He was always there for others. He was known to all to have a wonderful sense of humor, an incredibly kind heart and was always very fair in his dealings with other people. He will be remembered and sorely missed by the many whose hearts he touched.
