Terian Murphy AKA: Terry Haire 84 of Sonoita and Sierra Vista passed away peacefully on February 20, 2015 surrounded by children and grandchildren.

She was born in Bisbee, Arizona to Frank and Ann Murphy who were Homesteaders and Farmers in Double Adobe. She won $50.00 in 1931 in a beautiful baby contest in Cochise County. After graduating from Bisbee High School she attended Arizona State University and worked in civil service in Flagstaff at the Army Depot in Bellemont. She met and married Glen Dickens and moved to Huachuca City after the birth of their first child. Her husband was tragically taken from her in 1955 just 6 weeks after the birth of their second son.

While working in civil service she met and married Joe Haire and with their combined families they settled in Ramsey Canyon to raise their children. Terian was very active in her community as a PTA member, Cub Scout leader and Girl Scout leader. Historic photos of Sierra Vista show her marching with her troops in the annual Christmas Day Parades. Terian joined the Sierra Vista Public Schools system as an office administrator at the Sierra Vista Middle School and Retired after many years of service. She was always known for her quick Irish wit, and there was seldom a time that she didn’t have knitting needles in her hands Crafting sweaters, and afghans and “Tom Cat Shoes” a knitted bedtime slipper that she became famous for. It is rare that anyone crossed her path and didn’t wind up with a Terian original.

Terian is survived by her sons Glen C Dickens Jr (Betty Dickens), Frank A Dickens (Michelle Lind), and Daughter Sherry Wolfe (Steve Wolfe). She had 5 Grandchildren Scott Gabbert (Tammy Gabbert), Joseph Gabbert, Julia McGovern, Tara Dickens and Staci Dickens. Her Great Grandchildren are Brooke and Amber Gabbert and Hannah McGovern.

Terian was an early riser often waking at 4AM to get coffee ready for her family. When asked one day why she woke up so early She replied “I might miss something”!! She lived life to the fullest, never knew a stranger, and was always there if you needed her. As you read this announcement there are people all over wrapped up and snug in their Terian originals.
