Teresa Maria Garrity, 91, of Holiday City West, Berkeley Township died Monday, December 18, 2017 at Hunterdon Care Center, Flemington, with her children by her side. Born and raised in Newark, she lived in the Vailsburg section of Newark before moving to Berkeley Township, 21 years ago.
Teresa graduated from West Side High School. She worked in customer service for Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Newark, for thirty-five years before retiring in 1989. Mrs. Garrity was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over sixty years, holding various leadership positions during that time. She was a dedicated volunteer, actively participating in many of the Legion’s social and civic programs.
Teresa is predeceased by her husband, John Robert, who died in 2009. Surviving are her son Thomas Garrity of Toms River; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Robin Wahl of Readington Township; and brother, Louis Peragallo of Colonia. Teresa enjoyed spending time with her many nieces and nephews and their families.
