Teresa Lynn Hedrick passed from this life on July 23, 2013, after a long illness. Teresa was born on March 4, 1957, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to James and Betty Hedrick. She graduated from Okmulgee High School and attended Oklahoma State University and the Oklahoma University of Arts & Sciences. She married Brad Bingham in 1978 and their son, Tristan Bingham, was born in 1989. In 2012, her life-long dream of having a daughter came true when Tristan married Teresa Schwinghamer and the “two Teresas” quickly bonded as mother and daughter.  Tristan and Teresa were able to move back to Oklahoma to help care for their mother in the final weeks of her illness.

Teresa loved being a mother more than anything else in her life. She was a vocal supporter of Tristan’s baseball, football, and band activities. Nothing made her happier than listening to him playing the marimba. Whether they were hiking in Colorado, boating at Lake Murray, meeting Mickey Mouse at Disneyworld, or swimming with dolphins in Florida, she was childlike in her joy, always up for an adventure.

Teresa had returned to college shortly before she was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in 2010. Although her illness derailed her educational plans, she never lost hope that she would finally get a remission that would allow her to complete her degree in counseling.

Her father, James Hedrick, of Lindsay, Oklahoma, preceded Teresa in death. She is survived by son Tristan Bingham and daughter-in-law Teresa Schwinghamer, of Norman; mother Betty Hedrick and sister Vanessa Hedrick of Lindsay; sister and brother-in-law, Michael and Gail Mullins of Norman; and nieces and nephews: Ashley and Matt Nelson of Oklahoma City, Meghan Mullins and Mario Moreno of Palo Alto, California, and Kelsey Mullins of Norman.
