Synda “Cindy” L. Holmes, 78 of Centralia passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017 at her home. Cindy was born September 19, 1939 in LaClede, IL, daughter of John Mitchell and Marian (Wagoner) Mitchell. She married Gerald “Jerry” L. Holmes on December 30, 1959 at the Faith Methodist Church in Centralia and he preceded her in death on August 25, 2013.
Cindy is survived by two sons: Danny Holmes and wife Laurie of Centralia and Brian Holmes and wife Cindy of Centralia; four grandchildren: Ashley Calvert and husband Donnie of Centralia, Danielle Holmes of Centralia, Derrick Holmes and wife Tori, Alexis Holmes of Centralia; five great-grandchildren: Jaelynn Pender, Kelan Calvert, Kaden Calvert, Graham Holmes and Hudson Holmes all of Centralia; three sisters: Carrell Jarhaus and husband Bob of Farina, Donna Hohlt of Farina and Betty Vail of Effingham; two brothers: Kenny Mitchell and wife Carol of Farina, Terry Mitchell and wife Samantha of Farina; sister-in-law: Marlene Fox of Centralia.
She is preceded in death by her parents: John and Marian Mitchell, husband: Gerald “Jerry” Holmes, a grandson, Alex Holmes and her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Donald and Wilma Holmes. Cindy loved to do yard work. She enjoyed planting many flowers and watching them bloom. She loved sitting on the porch bird watching. Most of all she cherished her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
