Sylvia R. Kahler died peacefully with her family at her side on April 1, 2013 at Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare.

Sylvia married Dr. John T. Kahler Jr. on September 6, 1952 at Zion Episcopal Church.
Sylvia was a member of the Lake Delta Yacht Club, Teugega Country Club, Wednesday Morning Club and a charter member of the Ming Twig. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook and baker and always enjoyed cooking for her family. Her Christmas candy cane cookies are legendary.
Sylvia loved the outdoors, especially sailing on Lake Delta and skiing at Woods Valley.
She also loved attending her grandson’s athletic events and took great pride in each of their accomplishments. Sylvia’s friends were very important to her as she was always one of the first responders in their time of need.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, John (Jack); sons John III (Sue Yin) and Gary (Camille) and a daughter Susan. She is also survived by three grandsons, Austin Kahler, Spencer Kahler and Charles Kahler.
The family would like to especially thank Drs. Anthony Cotronea and Emil Wassel as well as the nursing staff at Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare.
