Sylvia Dean Ehler, 91, of Newton died on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center.
Sylvia, the daughter of Francis and Frances (Harvey) Shrum, was born on June 20, 1928 in Topeka, Kansas. As a young child her family moved to Jasper County, where she would live the rest of her life. Sylvia graduated from Newton High School in 1946.
Sylvia is survived by her husband, Richard of Newton; two daughters, Kristi Ehler of Seffner, Florida and Susan Vititoe of Grinnell; her two grandchildren, Zachary and Hunter Vititoe; and siblings, Florence Liera of Yorba Linda, California and Herbert Shrum of Los Angeles, California.
