Born on November 13, 1926 in Fairmount, Indiana to RobertS. Kirkpatrick andHelen (Thomas) Kirkpatrick,She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leland Compton, her brother, Virgil Kirkpatrick and grandson, Kameron Flynn.
Colleen and Leland were the parents of Three Daughters: Cheryl (Richard) McCracken, Longview, TX Charla Flynn, Carmel, IN Renee Reed, Zionsville, IN Two Sons: Doug (Connie) Compton, Jonesboro, IN Scott Compton , Greenfield, IN They were the grandparents of 11 Grand Children and 14Great-Grand Children with two on the way. Sister-in-law:Marilyn Kirkpatrick, Inverness, FL Colleen worked as an assistant to Dr. Arthur Goldthwaite after graduating from Fairmount High School. until shortly after her marriage.
She and her husband farmed for many years in the Fairmount area.She canvassed the local community as a census worker during the sixties, enjoying her interactions with her neighbors.After her husband’s death in 1969, Colleen worked for fourteen years in the Fairmount Motor Vehicle Bureau and then, for twenty years, as the assistant to the Grant County Commissioners in Marion, Indiana from which she retired in December 2004.Over the years, Colleen was a great fan of the Madison-Grant Argylls, the Purdue Boilermakers, the Pacers and the Colts.Her most beloved job was always as wife, mother and grandmother, for which her family will be eternally grateful.They will greatly miss and cherish their memories of her strength, her kindness, her generosity, her innate morality and wisdom, which she shared unreservedly. www.armeshuntfuneralhome.com
