Susie “Sue†Allene Jones, 68, formerly of 809 Jones Mill Road, Chatham, VA went to her Heavenly Home on Friday, August 17, 2012 following a year long battle with cancer. She was born June 4, 1944 in Danville, VA to the late Leonard Frank and Jessie Stowe Jones. She was a homemaker, a loving sister and friend to all. A member of Hopewell United Methodist Church, she taught the children and sang in the choir for many years. Her greatest pleasure was singing and working with children. She served on many Lay Witness Mission teams. She was a former member of Voices in Praise and New Song. She was an active member of the Dry Fork Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and Tunstall Young Homemakers. Prior to her health decline she was a sexton for Hopewell United Methodist Church and a child care provider. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers: Frank Arnett Jones and Rev. Willie B. Jones; one sister, Dollie Jones Keesee and a sister-in-law, Anna Oakes Jones. Survivors include five brothers: Ralph J. Jones (Mattie) of Dry Fork, Wilfred Hannibal Jones (Barbara), Rev. LeRoy V. Jones (Peg), Charles W. Jones (Elizabeth), all of Chatham, and Posey D. Jones (Karen) of Blacksburg. Also surviving are three sisters: Kathleen J. Varian of Clermont, FL, Yvonne J. Byrd (Rev. Wayne), Ashboro, NC, and Mary J. Wright (Harry) of Chatham; one sister-in-law, Francis P. Jones; a brother-in-law, Carlton Keesee, and very special nieces and nephews.
