Agnella “Susie” Halbleib, age 96, of Morehead, Kentucky, died Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

 

Born March 12, 1926, in Louisville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Guy Halbleib and Leo Edward Halbleib, Jr. 

 

She graduated from Ursuline Academy in Louisville and Nazareth School of Nursing—St. Joseph Infirmary in Louisville in 1947. She was the recipient of the Honorary Doctor of Science Degree from Morehead State University in 1996, the Ora L. Cline Award from the Morehead-Rowan County Chamber of Commerce in 2016; and the inaugural Signature Award from the St. Claire Foundation in 2021. 

 

Susie, a retired registered nurse, came to Morehead to work with C. Louise Caudill, M.D., in 1948 to stay for one year—this team worked together for 50 years in this area. 

 

 

Susie is survived by one brother, Robert Leo “Bob” Halbleib and wife Betty of Valley Station, Kentucky; nieces, nephews, and cousins including special cousin, Madonna Weathers of Morehead; Andrew Neichter, Jr., Pat Neichter, William Neichter, Tim Neichter, Leo Halbleib, Richard Halbleib, James Halbleib, Richard Schroeder, Theresa Halbleib, and Brenda Sue Daugherty; dear friends, the B. Proctor Caudill family of Morehead, Sally VonLehman and the Rev. Susan Skinner.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Elma Neichter, and two brothers, William Halbleib and Maurice Halbleib.
