Susan Jane Merriam of Kalamazoo Susan was born April 19, 1953, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Leonard and Gwendolyn O’Brien DeGoede and passed away June 15, 2011. She was a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and had worked at Shakespeare Company for several years. Sue had been a winner in the Tuff Woman Contest in Kalamazoo and Battle Creek and always challenged anyone in arm wrestling.
She was married to Charles Merriam who preceded her in death. Surviving are 2 children, Patrick Munson Jr., Laurie Ines Armijo Tillison; 2 stepsons, Chad and Troy; grandchildren, Courtney and Taylor; great-granddaughter, Tattyanah; her father, Leonard DeGoede; sister, Terri VanDiver; brother, David DeGoede and many nieces and nephews.
