Susan Ida Winberg Petter, age 76, passed away unexpectedly on August 27, 2020. She was born on August 13, 1944 in Hibbing, Minnesota, the daughter of Harold and June (Salo) Winberg. She graduated from Walled Lake High School and married Ronald M. Petter, Sr., on December 14, 1962.Susan, Sue, Susie, mom, grandma, was a joy, there is no other way to say it. She held various jobs during her lifetime and was phenomenal at whatever she did. She made every house a home and had a gift of making everyone who entered feel welcome. She should have been an interior designer because she was creative and had a way of decorating that when you walked into her house, it was as if you were walking into an art gallery. She had eclectic, odd and skilled artisan work throughout her home and had a masterful way of placing each and every item in such a way, that when you entered you were in awe. She could visually transform a room.Every gift she would give, would be wrapped in such a delicate and artistic way, that the wrapping in itself was a gift. And the gift inside was something she took great care in choosing for each individual. She took the time to know others so she knew what was meant for them, even down to the card. She would take a lengthy time to choose a card until she found the one with just the right words. On her children’s birthdays, she would call them early, I mean early in the morning before the sun rose to sing them happy birthday. And to this day, she would call her very special friend who passed in 2012 to wish her a happy birthday, even though the phone number no longer belonged to that dear friend who had passed. She was a true, caring friend. Susan was kind, generous, forgiving, thoughtful, creative, positive, was a giver; never asked for anything in return and was radiant and full of warmth. Everyone she met immediately liked her because she was genuine and had a sweetness about her. She would often say, “Come, sit down and talk.” She always wanted to hear about “you.”She could never eat a whole banana and would often ask if you wanted to share one with her. She made awesome crab dip and deviled eggs. She enjoyed dancing, laughing, singing, visiting friends and family, being crafty, spoiling her cat Salsa, going to Florida for the winter and spending time with all the people she made friends with at each park, going to garage sales and resale shops, and messaging with her grandkiddos and attending all of their events, award ceremonies, graduations, weddings. She was always more concerned about others than she was about herself. It’s just the way she was. She was abundantly caring. She loved chocolate chip cookies and Saunders cake. Most of all she loved her children. She listened, offered support, gave continuous praise, guidance and taught them to love. Her children are what they are today, because of is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ron Petter of Owosso, MI, children: Ron and Sherri (Harris) Petter of St. Clair, MI, Leslie and the late Curt Luttig of St. Johns, MI, Loren Petter of LaGrange, KY, grandchildren: Sabrina (Jacob) McClure, Samantha, Quinn, Brantae, Sadye, Madison, Noah and great-grandbabies: Brooklyn and Luke, and brother Les (Amina) Winberg of Gulfport, FL, her loving, kind and very best friend Sandie Slusher, her dear friend and her partner in crime, garage sale enthusiast and luncheon extraordinaire Pat Luttig, and her elusive cat Salsa (who will continue to receive the same love and care). Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and June Winberg, her son-in-law, Curt Luttig (who she adored and passed from ALS in 2012 and she continuously wore a bracelet in his honor, hoping for a cure.)A party in her honor was celebrated on September 5, 2020 where close friends and family gathered to visit, reminisce, share a meal, laugh and cry, which is exactly how she would have wanted
