Susan J. (Carroll) Foley, 60, of 4 Cedarcrest Drive in Westerly, died on Wednesday December 6, 2006, after a four-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the wife of Thomas F. Foley and the mother of Thomas Carroll Foley.
She is survived by her mother Lucille Carroll of Cumberland, her sister Nancy Carroll of Cumberland and her brother Peter Carroll of New York City. She is also survived by her paternal aunt Marie O’Brien of Manchester, NH, her maternal aunt Pauline McQuade of Blackstone, MA and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Foley is pre-deceased in death by her father Francis T. Carroll.
Mrs. Foley was a graduate of Woonsocket High School, Salve Regina College and received her masters degree from Rhode Island College. She taught elementary school for thirty years primarily in Richmond, RI before retiring in 1999. She then became a substitute teacher in the Westerly school system and particularly enjoyed Springbrook School.
Beside her love of teaching Mrs. Foley enjoyed tennis, reading, shopping and the beach. She also enjoyed the company of her many pets especially her dog Mia.
Sue Foley maintained a positive attitude throughout her life. She was an inspiration to us all.
