Susan “Diane” (Johnson) Linder, of Ft. Walton Beach, Fl unexpectedly went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 20, 2014.

Diane was born in Spartanburg, SC on August 14, 1948 to James J. and Shirley (Frey) Johnson. She was raised and grew up in Spartanburg with her sister Marie and graduated from Dorman High School in 1966. While vacationing in Charleston, SC she met her husband, William J. Linder, who was stationed there with the United States Air Force. They were married on March 8, 1969 and together they were stationed and traveled around the U.S.  After William’s Air Force retirement they spent 17 years in Douglasville, GA before returning to Ft. Walton Beach, FL in 2004.

Throughout her adult years Diane worked as a substitute teacher for elementary and middle school children as well as working in the field of insurance. For the last 6 years she served as a volunteer at the Eglin Air Force Base pharmacy. Diane also spent many years as a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority in which she held every office in numerous chapters.

The most important things to Diane in her life were her faith in God, her loving family, and her many friends. In addition to being a proud military wife she was just as proud to be a military mom to her son Jamie. More than anything Diane loved to have long phone conversations with friends, but the numerous heartfelt ones she had on an almost daily basis with her son, Jamie, and her beloved sister, Marie will always be cherished. Her listening ear, her gentle and kind words of encouragement and support and even her forthright honesty will truly be missed. Diane loved to laugh and her laughter would light up the room and put a smile on anyone’s face.

Diane is survived by her husband of 45 years, Chief Master Sergeant William Linder, her son Jamie and wife Jennifer of Shalimar Fl, her sister Marie and husband Larry Ellis of Spartanburg, SC. She will also be missed by her nephews Sean, Patrick, and Spencer and her nieces Dawn, Denka and Inna. She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
