Corinne Sue Swanson, 77, of Galesburg, died at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2014 at home. Sue was born February 5, 1937 in Galesburg, the daughter of Harry L. and Charlotte Cushman Swanson. Sue is survived by one daughter, Charri (Rich) Simmons of Galesburg; one son, Chris (Renee) Young of Alpha; one brother, Donald Swanson of Houston, TX; and one sister, Jan M. Simpson of St. Johns, MI. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jody (Dick) Yager, Richard (Sarah) Schleich, Jacob Schleich, Chad Stambaugh, and Clarissa Young; and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kevin; her best friend and aunt, Susie Foreman; a brother, Robert Swanson; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Valdivia and Jeremy Young. Sue worked for Protexal for 20 years. While working at Protexal, Sue also worked at Oogie’s Restaurant in Galesburg as a hostess and Grady’s Top Brass in Abingdon as a cook. Sue loved spending time in her vegetable and flower gardens. She also loved to crochet. Sue was an animal lover and always made sure stray cats were fed. She also loved her cat, Sissy.
