Sue Gamble Polly Woodward, 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, died Monday, January 25, 2016, at The Orchard Nursing Home in Ridgeland, Mississippi due to complications from a stroke suffered in 2007..m….m.. She was born July 16, 1929 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Stanley and Ada Gamble of Looxahoma, Mississippi. She attended the University of Mississippi and graduated with a Masters degree in Education. Polly enjoyed cooking, gardening and quilting. She had a variety of hobbies and interests. Polly enjoyed the many years she spent overseas with her husband, Red Woodward, until he retired in 1985, and they moved back to his home, Oxford, Mississippi.. Polly was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William P. Red Woodward in 2006. She is survived by her four children: Suzanne Horner and her husband, George, of Port Aransas, Texas, Gwynne Guinn and her husband, Gary, of Portland, Oregon, Wendy Beard and her husband John, of Jackson, Mississippi, and Phillip and his wife, Dawn, of Sacramento, California, as well as eleven grandchildren: Trey (Shelley) and Cheri Horner, Henry and Mae Guinn, Richard, William and Erin Robertson, John Phillip Beard, and Katrina, Jennifer and Elizabeth Woodward, and one great grandchild, Gabriel George Horner. The family would like to thank the staff of The Orchard for their devotion and attentive care..
