Stuart Bolander, 92, of Fortville, passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born May 12, 1920 in Indianapolis, to the late Guy and Mattie (Alford) Bolander. Stuart was a 1938 graduate of Fortville High School and then worked as a farmer and later as a general contractor.

Stuart was a member of the Fortville Lions Club, Mt. Vernon Community School Board, Hancock County Farm Bureau and Indiana Farm Bureau. He was also a member of Fortville United Methodist Church where he was active in the Elderberries (now known as the OWLS) and United Methodist Men.

Stuart is survived by daughters: Mary Beth (Tom) Flanagan and Jane Ann (fiancé Dave Garst) Blanton; grandchildren: Kelly (Jerry) Stokesbary, Kimberly (Brendan) Hartnett, Craig (Sara) Blanton and Scott Blanton; six great-grandchildren; and niece Judy (Max) Griffey. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years Helen (Sylvester) Bolander on September 28, 2012; brother Floyd A. Bolander; sister Marthellen Hogue; and great-granddaughter Claire Blanton.
