Dublin- Stuart C. Shipman, 98, passed away on Tuesday evening October 20, 2009 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. A son of the late C. P. Shipman and Stella Sipe Shipman, Stuart was born in Bucyrus, Ohio on December 12, 1910. He graduated with the class of 1929 from Edison High School in Morrow County, Ohio. He received a Graduate in Pedagogy in 1931 from Ohio Northern University- Ada, Ohio. Stuart taught for three years in a one – room rural school in Congress Township- Morrow County, Ohio before accepting a teaching position and elementary principalship at Marion, Ohio while completing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education at Ohio State University in 1937. He was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi- Honorary Band Fraternity at O.N.U. and Kappa Phi Kappa- National Education Fraternity at Ohio State. Stuart married the former Martha Mautz on July 31, 1938 and was drafted in June of 1942. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the infantry at Fort Benning, Georgia in February of 1943.
