STOCKTON EMMETT POWERS, age 84, of Manassas, VA died Thursday, March 6, 2003 at Cobblestones at Fairmont, Manassas. Mr. Powers attended Grace United Methodist Church. He was a teacher and a coach in Stanardsville, VA and enjoyed reading and writing. Mr. Powers retired as an accountant having worked in the Manassas area for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry and Helen Hardy Powers, his loving wife of 51 years, Barbara Chalfin Powers who died January 4, 2001 and one daughter, Kathryn Lynn Powers. Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Powers Sims, of Manassas, Anne Powers Higgins, of Broomfield, CO and Nancy Powers Sims, of Haymarket, VA, two sons, Paul Hardy Powers, of Fort Wayne, IN and David Ward Powers, of Manassas, two sisters, Mabel Snead and Frances May Holmes, both of South Hill, VA, seven grandchildren; Matthew B. Sims, Adam C. Sims, Russell M. Sims, Tony B. Sims, Chris K. Powers, Alison E. Powers and Anja N. Higgins and one great-granddaughter, Olivia M. Powers.
