Steven R. Leardi, a twenty-year resident of Garrison, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday September 14, 2019. He was 66 years old.

Mr. Leardi was self-employed as a site and utilities excavation contractor and real estate entrepreneur, with an office in Putnam Valley. He was born in Peekskill on December 24, 1952, to John P. Leardi and Joan (Barnes) Leardi. He graduated from Lakeland High School and proudly served as a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Steve was a life-member and past President of the Christopher Columbus Society of Peekskill, a former board member and past Commodore of the Garrison Yacht Club, a member of the Willow Wood trapshooting club in Mahopac, and a member of Our Lady of Loretto Church in Cold Spring. He was also a football coach with the Cortlandt Youth Football League for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, the love of his life, Beverly (Freeman) Leardi of Garrison NY; two sisters, Lisa Leardi-Lake of Peekskill and Lois Leardi of Cortlandt Manor; two sons, John William (Kathy) Leardi of Freehold, NJ, and Steven “Odie” (Tricia) Leardi of Garrison; one daughter Sandra (Robert) Murphy of Garrison; and seven grandchildren, Steven Michael and John Rocco Leardi of Freehold, Ariana Patricia and Francesca Beverly Leardi of Garrison, and Morgan Joan, Robert Thomas III (Trey), and Julia Margaret Murphy of Garrison.

Steve was “all in” in everything he did – sailing, boating, cars, painting, shooting, golf, fly-fishing, model trains, gardening, raising chickens, and bee-keeping. But his family always came first – with his friends never far behind. He was both the life of the party, and the first person you would call in a time of need. He will be missed terribly, but always remembered fondly.
