Steven P. Dexter, 61, of Holden, died Friday, July 2, 2010, in Holden Nursing Home after an illness.

Mr. Dexter was born in Worcester, the son of Amelia A. (Koziol) Dexter of Milford and the late Paul B. Dexter. He grew up in Grafton and was a graduate of St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury. After earning a civil engineering degree at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, he had been the Assistant County Engineer for the Worcester County Civil Engineering Department, dealing with highway design. In his last years, he worked at the Mobil gas station in Holden. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his mother, he leaves two nephews, Jason Dexter of Charlton and Kevin Dexter of Pittsburgh, PA; a niece, Angela Pawlowicz of Worcester; three grandnieces; and four grandnephews. His brother, Larry P. Dexter, died in 1999.
