Steven Lynn Simonsen, 74, passed away Wednesday February 17, 2016, in Roy, Utah. Steven, son of Harold and Mildred Simonsen, was born October 6, 1941 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was raised and attended school in Marion, Iowa, graduating from Marion High school.
Steve served for 4 years in the U.S. Air Force and an additional 4 years in the Air Force Reserves. While serving as a medic in the Air Force at Hill Air Force Base (HAFB) he met his wife, JoAnne Sheppard Simonsen, whom he married on May 27, 1966.
While working full time, he pursued his education at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology.
Steve and his wife purchased a home in Roy, Utah; while continuing his work at HAFB; where they raised their 3 children, and have resided for over 43 years.
Steve is survived by his wife, JoAnne, all 3 of their children, Rob (Becki), Ron (Tina) and Cristi (Travis) Butler, by his 13 grandchildren, and by his 3 brothers and 1 sister. He was preceded in death by his parents.
