Steven Lee Mango, age 47, of Guilford Lake, died Thursday, June 15, 2017 in Youngstown following a long battle with addiction. He was born June 2, 1970 in Salem, a son of Deborah L. Webb and the late Oscar Tuel.
Steve was a 1988 graduate of Salem High School where he went through the JVS Program.
Steve was loved unconditionally and supported by his family and countless friends.
Steve loved spending time with his boys and with his family. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, listening to music, being outdoors, playing softball, traveling and providing obedient training for dogs.
Steve had a talent for training dogs that no one else seemed to be able to manage and his ambition was to open a training facility for dogs. He could relate to the anguish the four-legged pets had gone through and wanted to provide a better future for them. Successfully, Steve trained over 100 dogs through an obedience program.
Steve had the innate ability to bring laughter into any situation. His perspective was with depth that many could not understand. His heart was pure. The last several months of his cherished life, he spent searching for who he was and who he wanted to be. Working through the 12-step program, he was able to recognize and admit his addiction. With that, Steve gave his first lead testimony to a group of fellow recovery friends. Steve finally found his purpose. Steve will be greatly missed in our daily lives. His spirit will remain with us every moment of every day.
Survivors include his mother, Deborah L. Webb; adopted father, Patrick Mango; stepfather, Jeff Sell; three sons, Steve A. Mango, Nathaniel L. Mango and Joshua L. Mango; two sisters, Kimberly R. Cody and Lynette N. Sell; brother, Brandon J. Mango; stepbrother, Shawn Binsley; four nieces and nephews, Trey Mango, Trenton Mango, Camryn Cody and Dawson Cody; grandmother, Inez Ruth Webb; a grandson, Weston J. Mango; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and various family members; and special friend, Becky Irey.
Preceding him in death was his father, Oscar Tuel; adopted father, Gail Binsley; grandparents, Red and Ruth Tuel; grandfather, French Lee Webb; and his dog, Tyson.
