Steven A. Schierman, Sr., of Moscow died Sunday, November 30, 2014, at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow. He was 69. Steve was born April 25, 1945, in Colfax, WA to Harry and Marie Schierman. He attended school in Colfax and graduated from Palouse High School. He was active in Legion baseball, football, and basketball, and attended Eastern Washington University. Steve married Betty Ziebell on January 15, 1972, in Vancouver, WA. They lived in Seattle and Vancouver, WA where he worked at Boeing Aircraft as a parts handler. He later managed restaurants in the Vancouver area, including A&W, Skippers, and Denny’s. In 1985, Steve and Betty moved to Moscow. In 1989 he went to work for Washington State University in the maintenance department, retiring after 15 years, due to health reasons. Steve was an avid Gonzaga and ’49er’s fan and enjoyed watching sports. He also loved his pets, including pug Ushi and amazon parrot Fred. Steve is survived by his wife Betty (Moscow), son Steven A. Schierman, Jr., and his wife Elizabeth Herbst Schierman (Boise), daughter Baret (Schierman) Ludiker and her husband Randy Ludiker (Moscow), and granddaughter Jennifer (Ludiker) Steele and her husband Davey Steele (Lewiston). He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Burrell Schierman.
