Stephen Cole Nelson (Steve), age 60, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at his home in Lost Creek with family by his side, after a long battle with laryngeal cancer. Steve was born on June 30, 1962 in Charleston, son of John and Sherri Coleman Nelson of Lake Floyd, Bristol, WV.
Steve graduated from Liberty High in 1980 and also graduated from Ben Franklin Technical School in 1985. He worked at the Clarksburg Country Club as a groundskeeper for thirty-five plus years. He was a member of Prince of Peace Episcopal Church in Salem. He enjoyed hunting, golfing and playing drums.
In addition to his parents, Steve is survived by Shiela Marie Dennison Nelson; twin sons; Corey Stephen Nelson, Clarksburg, Cole Alexander and wife Kara, Clarksburg; one daughter; Brandi “Nikki” Godfrey and wife Brandi Robinson, Clarksburg; six grandchildren, Gracelynn, Elliot, and Cyrus Nelson, Avery and Jordan Robinson, and Brooklynn Freeman; two brothers, Scott Nelson and wife Cindy, Morgantown, Mike Nelson, Socastee, SC; several nieces and nephews.
Steve is preceded in death by his grandparents, Shirley and Rex Wells, J.B. and Ova Coleman, and John and Elizabeth Nelson.
A special thanks to Steve’s best friend, Donnie Cavalier and his neighbors, Ernie and Diane Morgan.
Per Steve’s request he will be cremated.
