Stephen James Fontanella, MD, 68, of Toms River, NJ, passed away Monday, November 19, 2012. Born in Paterson, NJ, he moved to Toms River in 1975. Dr. Fontanella retired in 1997 after many years of serving patients at his Ear, Nose, and Throat practice in Toms River. He was a graduate of Seton Hall Prep and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Seton Hall University. He would later receive his Doctorate Degree from the University of Rome and served his residency at New York Eye and Ear Hospital. Dr. Fontanella was a parishioner of St. Justin the Martyr RC Church, Toms River.
Predeceased by his parents Andrew and Lucy Fontanella and his siblings Josephine, Richard, Celeste, Loretta, and Alfred.
Surviving are his wife Renee (nee Schuckman); his son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Lisa Fontanella of Far Hills, NJ; his daughters Danielle Marler and her husband Billy of Toms River, Lucienne “Lucie” Morse and her husband Jonathan of Toms River, Jaclyn Fontanella of Washington, D.C. and Andrea Fontanella of Toms River; his brother Fr. Andrew Fontanella of Crisfield, MD; 6 grandchildren Nicholas Morse, Jessica, and Adrienne Marler, Gianna Morse, Mario Fontanella and Annabelle Fontanella; his 2 brothers in law Joel and Bruce Schuckman.
