Stephen Hood Baxter of Suffolk, VA passed away on December 23, 2023 from an illness. Hegraduated from James Madison University in 1975 with a degree in science and worked as aconstruction manager for various large international companies. His projects included: King’s ForkHigh School Suffolk VA, The Chesapeake Expressway, The Battlefield Blvd. I-64 Interchange, TheJuvenile and Domestic Relations Court Complex in Charlottesville VA, The Longwood UniversityBotanical Sciences Research Facility, The Logistics University at Fort Lee VA, and various otherprojects for the US Army Corps of Engineers and NAVFAC.He was married to his wife, Michelle Ernestine Fourman for 25 years and was widowed for 18 years. Heloved their dogs, and after Michele died they became his Chow-Chow angels as Michele intended.Steve was an enthusiastic boatman and loved the coastal waters of the Chesapeake Bay. He was also anavid outdoorsman and a talented jazz drummer.He was fiercely loyal to those who were close to him, and he sacrificed repeatedly for his friends, his ethics, and morals. Honesty, integrity, truthfulness, and a Christian sense of righteousness were hiswatchwords, and this is how he lived his life, the best he could.Steve joins Michelle and brother, Bud Baxter. He is survived by sister, Pam Knight; nephew, BrianKnight, as well as his beloved dog, Pascha. He will be remembered as a loyal friend and a patriot to hiscountry. Home is the Hunter, home from the hills, and the sailor home from the seas.
