The Soriano family announces with great sadness the loss of their beloved parents, Gloria, age 93 and Stephen age 87.  Gloria and Steve passed away within days of each other on September 27th & 29th.  They would have celebrated 62 years of marriage on September 30th.  While Gloria’s passing was expected due to a chronic illness, Steve’s was sudden. The family is comforted by the knowledge that they entered eternal peace together.

They were both lifelong residents of Westchester County, residing in Mamaroneck and later in Cortlandt Manor.

Steve was born to Stefano and Rose (Richichi) Soriano on January 11, 1931.  Survived by his children Rose Marie O’Neill (Russell Allard), Sandra Broadhurst, JoAnne (Paul) Reichard and Diane (Dietmar) Hummel, sister Barbara Abbes, grandchildren Jeffrey and Alex Reichard and many nieces and nephews.

Steve worked for 47 years as a printer for the NY Herald Tribune and New York Times and served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953.  In his earlier years Steve enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and spent many hours working with his Bonsai trees.  Steve enjoyed sports, fishing and was an avid Mets fan.

Gloria was born to James and Maria (Fasano) Ciaio on February 22, 1925. In addition to her surviving children she is pre-deceased by sisters Rose, Mary, Yolanda, Antoinette, Josephine and brothers Charles, Anthony, James, and many nieces and nephews.

Gloria worked for the NY Telephone Company as a long-distance operator for 10 years.  She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, the holidays, and her family.
