Stella Mary Barba, 89, of 1977 W Knox Rd., Alexis, died at 5:35 a.m. Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at home.
Stella was born on June 25, 1919 in Gallitzin, PA the daughter of Angelo and Josephine Zizzia Bongiorno. She married Louis J. Barba on June 21, 1940 in Altoona, PA. He preceded her in death on February 9, 1987.
Surviving Stella are two daughters, Arlene (Richard M Flacco, MD) Flacco of Alexis and Bernadette (Richard) Ciullo of Bellmawr, NJ and two sisters, Delina Romani and Angie Eckhard. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Valerie Flacco-Nesselroad of Wataga, Rick Flacco of Alexis, Richard James Ciullo, Matthew Ciullo, and Jon Paul Ciullo all of New Jersey; six great grandchildren, Hunter and Taylor Nesselroad, Rachael, Michael, and Nicholas Flacco, and Hayden Ciullo. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Stella had worked for Morris Tailors in Philadelphia as a seamstress (supervisor) for several years until her retirement. After her retirement she was a homemaker. She was a member of Immaculate Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, especially baking cookies and cakes, weekend trips with friends and family. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She enjoyed going to dinner at the casino and the family’s race horses.
